October 2014 – Present Meten International English, Suzhou

• I currently conduct 25 classes a week, mostly to adult students, at a training college.
• The wide variety of courses available to students at the college (e.g. Grammar English, Survival English, Picture Dictionary, and Business Games) has allowed me to develop my skills in teaching English in a host of everyday situations.
• Given that the level of students also varies between absolute beginners to complete fluency, the college has given me a greater appreciation of the different approaches that work at each level.


January 2014 – July 2014 Yunhe Teachers’ College

• Worked as an ESL Teacher for students aged 16-21 training to becoming teachers. I conducted 16 classes a week, all of which comprised of upwards of 60 students, as well as coordinating a weekly ‘English Corner’ where up to 100 people from both within and outside the school regularly attended in order to practice conversational English in an informal setting.
• As a listening and speaking teacher, I continue to gain valuable experience in lesson planning and teaching practice, as well as developing great communicative skills with students whose mother tongue is not English.
• Awareness of the Chinese education system, cultural issues and experience in working with Chinese colleagues.

2011 – 2013 Triple Pick Coffee

• Worked as part of a team in an often very busy café to make coffee under rigorous time constraints.
• Beginning my work in these conditions required the capacity to integrate into the team immediately and to pick up on information quickly.
• The ability to communicate effectively with other team members to respond to customer requests was essential.
• My work here also involved managing coffee roasting duties to ensure weekly coffee roasting targets were met for our retail purchasers. This required an effective distribution of tasks and strong communication between members of the team.
