简介:

Gentry is a well-seasoned artist teacher with experience in creative fields andart disciplines thatinclude: portrait, landscape and still life painting in many various drawing techniques, mediums including charcoal, pastel, pen, ink; sculpture in clay and stone, wood carvin;collage, ceramics and photography. The artist also has experience with newspaper design and layout, caricature illustration and graphic design.

Gentry’s creative style is abstract modernism rooted in years of traditional training. He enjoys working primarily in oil paint on canvas, using the human figure as a basis for subject matter. Gentry has experience working professionally as a government graphic illustrator for six years in Washington DC receiving several awards. Gentry’s work has been shown in Washington DC, Korea and Japan.

Along with creating art, Gentry is also a teacher. He has over twenty years of teaching in Japan, Korea, China and America. His teaching experience includes both English and art. The artist has owned and operated his own ‘paint-your-own-pottery’ studio that included classes designed for right brain development in children. The ceramics studio called the “Krazy Kiln” also offered to paying customers B-Day parties with ‘How To” instruction and techniques. Other responsibilities included visiting local High Schools and conducting paint-your-own bisque classes. Gentry’s has also taught art to children and adults in Nagoya, Japan. Gentry established a Language school in Japan. His students were of all ages from 4 years old to 70 years old. This school offered primarily English instruction; however, art classes in jewelry making, drawing and many other creative activities were enjoyed. Gentry also created the ‘Art Circle’ in Japan in which he taught figure drawing techniques to other expats.

Here in America Gentry continues to work as an artist. He was employed by Michaels Art Supply Store to give technique demonstrations using Grumbacher materials to customers. In the artist private studio he has conducted many classes for High School students. Gentry has also created several popular Youtube videos that show examples of how to paint a poster in minutes.
