For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be an educator. I believe that it is one of the greatest contributions one can make to the continued existence of mankind and to the improvement in the quality of life being experienced by an individual. Also, the fact that my family has several teachers, including my mother, who commanded the respect of the individuals in the rural community in which I spent my early childhood, influenced my decision.

I have enjoyed teaching Spanish, Integrated Science and Human and Social Biology at the secondary grade level for 17 years. I especially like this grade level because the students are curious about who they are and who they want to be. I am able to help them with answering these questions by incorporating interactive class activities. These include the use of role plays, cooperative grouping, class discussions, research projects as well as utilizing various forms of technology. In addition, I use both formal and informal assessment techniques to determine students’ progression.

Being a Foreign Language Teacher and student I am familiar with the challenges and methodologies of language learning. This background along with my patient personality, my creativity, committed and coach-able work ethic will motivate my ESL students to achieve communicative competence.

Through my experiences and academic background, I am confident that I can offer the qualities you seek in a English as a Foreign Language Teacher.
